این هم اولین سیستمیه که اسمبل کردم. اون هم همون میکروفونیه که توی ایران پادکست‌هایِ پویانما رو باهاش استارت زدیم. چقدر خوشحال بودم که در نهایت فضایِ شخصیِ خودم رو دارم. البته هزاران برابر بهتر و قوی‌تر از کامپیوتری که توی ایران داشتم. And this is the first system I assembled. That's also the same microphone we used in Iran to start the Puyanama podcasts. I was so happy to finally have a personal space of my own. Thousands of times better and more powerful than the computer I had back in Iran, of course.

این عکس رو بعد از هشت سال زندگی در پراگ، و کسبِ تجربه‌هایی که با هیچ‌گونه پول یا پارتی‌بازی نمی‌شد به‌دست آورد، میونِ بهترین همکارانِ عالم، که همیشه حامیِ ما بودن، گرفتیم. چه روزِ مهمی بود برامون، و ممنونم از همه‌یِ همکاران، که با متوجه‌شدنِ این روزِ مهم و درخواستِ ما، بدو‌بدو اومدن و باهم این عکس رو برایِ همیشه ثبت کردیم. We took this photo after eight years of living in Prague, and gaining experience that no amount of money or connections could have bought, surrounded by the best colleagues in the world, who have always been in our corner. What an important day it was for me, and I'm grateful to every colleague who, once they learned how significant the day was and I asked, came running over so we could capture this photo together forever.

این هم همون پیجِ خواهرمه که شروع کرده به نوشتنِ زندگی‌نامه‌یِ من. سریِ پست‌هاش رو ببینید. هیچ‌وقت انتظارِ این رو نداشتم که پیجش رو تبدیل کنه به صفحه‌یِ خزعبلاتِ روحی؛ ما انتظار داشتیم بیزینس رو ببره جلو، ولی متأسفانه این اتفاق هیچ‌وقت نمی‌افته و نخواهد افتاد. باید ببینیم این وضعیت تا کِی ادامه پیدا می‌کنه، و در نهایت تا چه زمانی باید هزینه‌یِ تیکِ آبی رو ما بپردازیم. This is the same page of my sister's, where she has started writing my biography. Take a look at her series of posts. I never expected her to turn the page into a place for spiritual ramblings; we expected her to take the business forward, but unfortunately that's never going to happen, and we'll have to see how long this situation continues, and for how much longer we'll have to keep paying for the blue checkmark.

روزافن (استامینوفن ۵۰۰): برای کاهش درد و تب استفاده می‌شه؛ مثل سردرد، دردهای عضلانی و تب. لومیدکس (لوپرامید): ضد اسهاله؛ حرکت روده رو کند می‌کنه. دمیترون (اندانسترون): ضد تهوع و استفراغه؛ معمولاً برای حالت تهوع شدید یا بعد از شیمی‌درمانی و جراحی تجویز می‌شه. Ruzaphen (Acetaminophen 500): Used to relieve pain and reduce fever — headaches, muscle aches, fever. Lomidex (Loperamide): An anti-diarrheal; slows down bowel movement. Demitron (Ondansetron): An anti-nausea medication; typically prescribed for severe nausea, or after chemotherapy and surgery.

این عکس رو ببینید؛ من رو هم ببینید، با اون موهایِ ژولیده. اصلاً نمی‌دونستم کجام. پروژه‌یِ تهرانی‌ها رو با امید داشتیم می‌بردیم جلو، و از شدتِ استرس، خواب و زندگی نداشتم. چهره‌ام رو ببین آخه، دیگه جایِ حرفِ زیادی نیست. این عکس رو پدرم از من و امید گرفته. Look at this photo; look at me, with that disheveled hair. I genuinely didn't know where I was. Omid and I were pushing the Tehrani-ha project forward, and I had no sleep and no life left from the sheer stress. Just look at my face, there's not much more to say than that. My father took this photo of Omid and me.

اینجا بچه‌هایِ کلاس برام تولد گرفته بودن. نمی‌تونم نگم که فقط با نوشتنِ این مطلبِ مربوط به مدرسه‌ی ویژه و دیدنِ این عکس، بغض کردم. چقدر خاطراتِ خوب کم دارم، و چقدر نادرن لحظاتی که درونشون احساسِ آدم‌بودن و زنده‌بودن بکنم. دستتون درد نکنه بچه‌ها، و مرسی که در سخت‌ترین دورانِ زندگیم در کنارم بودید. Here, the classmates threw me a birthday party. I can't not admit that just writing this piece about Vijeh School and seeing this photo made a lump rise in my throat. How few good memories I have, and how rare the moments are where I feel truly human and alive inside them. Thank you so much, everyone — and thank you for being by my side during the hardest period of my life.

این لوگو ترکیبی‌ه از حرفِ «پ» فارسی و حرفِ «A» انگلیسی، که نقطه‌های حرفِ «پ» نقشِ اجزای صورت رو بازی می‌کنن؛ انگار یه شخصیتِ کارتونیه با دهنی باز و چشم‌هایی گشاد که خیره شده به دنیای بی‌انتهای انیمیشن. This logo combines the Persian letter "پ" with the English letter "A." The dots of the "پ" act like facial features — as if it's a cartoon character with an open mouth and wide eyes, staring into the endless world of animation. He also has a little hat :D

احتمالاً این عکسِ باکیفیت، جایزه‌یِ من بوده به‌خاطرِ مدل‌سازیِ اون الاغ و درخششم توی وظایفِ دیگه. چقدر هم مو داشتم... یادمه دورانی که کتیرا مالیدن روی مو مد شده بود در ایران. الان دیگه خبری از اون موها نیست :) This high-quality photo was probably my reward for modeling that donkey and standing out in other tasks. Look how much hair I had... I remember the era when putting katira gel on your hair was trendy in Iran. There's no trace of that hair left now :)

اولین کتابی که در موردِ مدل‌سازی و گرافیکِ کامپیوتری خریدیم، همین بود. یادش به‌خیر، چقدر تلاش می‌کردم تا بفهممش، و چقدر توی ترجمه از معادلاتِ فارسی استفاده شده بود که برایِ من اصلاً قابلِ درک نبودن؛ و چقدر مراحل کلی بودن که نمی‌شد باهاشون کاری کرد! This was the first book we bought about 3D modeling and computer graphics. Good times — how hard I tried to understand it, and how many Persian equivalents were used in the translation that made absolutely no sense to me, and how vague and general the steps were, to the point where you couldn't actually do anything with them!

اینجا آشپزخونه‌یِ خونه‌ای هست که توی ارومیه پدر و مادرم ساخته بودن. هیچی نداشتیم. مادرم در حالِ غذا پختن هست و خاله‌ام در حالِ کمک‌کردن. من و امید هم هیچی حالیمون نبود. اینجا حدود پونزده‌ساله بودیم فکر کنم. This is the kitchen of the house my parents built in Urmia. We had nothing. My mother is cooking here, and my aunt is helping her. Omid and I had no idea about anything back then. I think we were around 15 here.

این عکس رو امید از من گرفته. چقدر امیدوار بودم، و سنِ چهل‌ویک‌سالگی رو توی دورهایِ نامعلوم تصور می‌کردم. البته الان هم امیدوارم، ولی خب، اون احساسِ عمیقِ حسرت رو نمی‌شه نادیده گرفت. خوشحالم که اون روزها تموم شدن و من دیگه اون آدمِ سابق نیستم. This photo was taken of me by Omid. How hopeful I was — imagining age 41 as something in some far, undefined distance. Of course, I'm still hopeful now too, but that deep sense of longing can't be ignored. I'm glad those days are over, and I'm not that same person anymore.

این عکس رو خیلی دوست دارم؛ آرت توش خیلی کوچولو و معصوم افتاده. تا دیدیم تراموا خلوته، سریع دوربین رو آماده کردم و نشستم، امید هم رفت و ژست گرفت. نتیجه‌ش شد همین عکس محشری که می‌بینید. I really love this one — Art looks so tiny and innocent in it. As soon as we saw the tram was nearly empty, I quickly got the camera ready and sat down, while Omid took his spot and got ready for the shot. The result is this gorgeous photo you see here.

عکاسی از موتورسیکلت‌های رترو با یه دوربین رترو حال‌وهوای خاص خودش رو داره. اینجا وسط خیابون بودم؛ از شانسم خیابون خلوت بود و مردم از پشت سرم رد می‌شدن، ولی من غرق آنالوگ‌بازی‌های خودم بودم. Shooting retro motorcycles with a retro camera has a vibe all its own. Here I was standing in the middle of the street — luckily it was quiet, and people were passing by behind me, but I was completely lost in my own little analog world.

اینجا کادر حسابی کج‌وکوله شده، چون دوربین رو کج گرفته بودم. از شانس من هم، درست وقتی شاتر رو زدم که آرت داشت پلک می‌زد. The framing here came out pretty crooked, since I was holding the camera at a tilt. And just my luck — I pressed the shutter right as Art blinked.

یه صندلی آواره و سرگردون کنار خیابون افتاده بود که یهو به ذهنم رسید برش داریم و جلوی این کلیسا باهاش عکس بگیریم. سریع ایده‌ش رو چیدیم، آرت رو آوردم کنارم و امید با یه کادربندی خوب عکس رو ثبت کرد. این عکس رو واقعاً دوست دارم؛ کلیسا در تضاد با ما خیلی مهیب و تأثیرگذار دیده می‌شه، و جزئیات و کنتراست همه‌چیز عالی دراومده. این نگاتیو ایلفورد خیلی ریزدانه‌ست و اوراکسپوز شدن رو هم خیلی خوب تحمل می‌کنه. محشره. There was a stray, lonely chair sitting by the side of the street, and it hit me — why not grab it and take a photo in front of this church? We quickly worked out the idea, I brought Art over beside me, and Omid captured the shot with some great framing. I really love this photo — against us, the church looks imposing and powerful, and the detail and contrast came out beautifully. This Ilford film is very fine-grained and handles overexposure really well. Just stunning.

ولی وقتی نوبت من شد که همون عکس رو، این بار با امید توی کادر، بگیرم، حسابی ناکام موندم. کج‌وکوله‌تر از این امکان نداشت! But when it was my turn to recreate the same shot, this time with Omid in the frame, I completely fell short. It couldn’t have come out any more crooked!

توی کافی‌شاپ آنتونین، که حسابی طرفدارشیم، با امید داشتیم قهوه می‌خوردیم که امید گفت: «توحید، صبر کن، یه عکس از همین حالتت بگیرم.» نتیجه‌ش شد این. باید اعتراف کنم امید عکس‌های خیلی خوبی می‌گیره. We were having coffee at Antonín, a café we’re big fans of, when Omid said, “Tohid, hold on — let me take a photo of you just like that.” This is the result. I have to admit, Omid takes really great photos.

بعد از اون عکس، نوبت من بود. به امید گفتم تکون نخوره و این عکس رو گرفتم. همون‌طور که می‌بینید، کادر رو جوری بستم که پاهای آرت و امید هر دو بریده شدن، و با دیدن نتیجه حسابی دلخور شدم. ولی حالت جدی صورت امید و نگاه دقیق آرت به بیرون از کادر رو دوست دارم. کنتراست عکس هم خوبه؛ پس‌زمینه روشنه و پیش‌زمینه تیره. After that shot, it was my turn. I told Omid not to move and took this one. As you can see, I framed it so that both Art’s and Omid’s legs got cropped out, and I was pretty disappointed when I saw the result. Still, I love Omid’s serious expression and the way Art is intently looking at something outside the frame. The photo has good contrast too — a bright background and a dark foreground.

این عکس از نظر زاویه، نزدیکی کادر به زمین و ترکیب من و آرت با آدم‌های پس‌زمینه می‌تونست جالب باشه، ولی فوکوس نیست؛ چون امید یادش رفته بود فوکوس رو تنظیم کنه. این هم از خصوصیات عکاسی آنالوگه: همه‌چیز باید یادت بمونه، وگرنه از Ctrl+Z خبری نیست! This one could have been interesting — the angle, the frame sitting low to the ground, and Art and me set against the people in the background. But it’s out of focus, because Omid forgot to adjust it. That’s just part of analog photography: you have to remember everything, because there’s no Ctrl+Z!

از یه چهارراه و چند تا خیابون که رد شدیم، از دور یه جمعیتی رو توی یه میدون دیدیم. نزدیک‌تر که رفتیم، فهمیدیم بازارچه‌ی شنبه‌هاست. سریع یه عکس گرفتم. After crossing an intersection and a few more streets, we spotted a crowd in a square from a distance. As we got closer, we realized it was the Saturday market. I quickly snapped a shot.

این عکس رو خیلی دوست دارم. امید و آرت، و خطوطی که همه به اون‌ها ختم می‌شن و یه جورایی به مرکز کادر اشاره می‌کنن. عکس‌های آنالوگ سیاه‌وسفید واقعاً یه جلوه‌ی خاص دارن. I really love this one — Omid and Art, with all the lines leading toward them, almost pointing to the center of the frame. Black-and-white analog photos truly have a special charm.

این هم به نظرم مرموزترین و بهترین عکس این مجموعه‌ست. صبح که زدیم بیرون، آفتاب تازه داشت از پشت ساختمون‌ها بالا می‌اومد. یه نیمکت زیر سایه‌ی یه درخت بود و نور از پشت می‌تابید توی محوطه. امید آرت رو کنار خودش نگه داشت و من این عکس رو گرفتم. درخشش نور و ریم‌لایتی که پشت آرت و امید افتاده، خطوط سیلوئتشون رو حسابی متمایز کرده. حتی تیره‌ترین بخش‌های فریم، یعنی دستکش و لباس‌های امید، هم تا حد خوبی جزئیات دارن. این عکس محشر شده. To me, this is the most mysterious and the best photo of the set. When we headed out that morning, the sun was just rising from behind the buildings. There was a bench in the shade of a tree, with light streaming in from behind. Omid held Art beside him, and I took this shot. The glow of the light and the rim light falling behind Art and Omid really make their silhouettes stand out. Even the darkest parts of the frame — Omid’s gloves and clothes — still hold a good amount of detail. This photo turned out stunning.
