An Ordinary Day, a Roll of UltraMax, and a Forgotten Hat
Omid and I had wrapped up another workday, giving it everything we had creatively, as always. I’d only just got my hands on this PRAKTICA and was itching to test it and see what it could do. So, tired but buzzing, we hit the streets and took a few photos until sunset.
We loaded a roll of Kodak UltraMax 400 and started thinking about what to shoot and what to skip! It’s so easy to burn through a whole roll, usually 35 or 36 frames, in the first few minutes. You have to hold yourself back!
The camera is very mechanical, and the shutter fires with a loud “clack” that tells the whole world someone, somewhere, just took a photo :)
I photographed a yellow flower and spent several minutes framing and focusing it, since I’m still not as used to manual focus as I should be. It was early spring 2026, April or May, I don’t remember exactly, and I was wearing a hat, which you can see in some of the photos. Anyway, I took it off and just set it on the ground, and in the middle of all that concentration I completely forgot about it. After taking the shot, it slipped my mind entirely. We’d walked a kilometer or two away when it suddenly hit me: no hat! We rushed back, and there it was, right where I’d left it.
All the photos are wonderfully sharp, and the Carl Zeiss lens was incredibly crisp and excellent. At dusk I also tried a slow shutter speed test, and it turned out really well.
یه روز کاری دیگه رو با امید، مثل همیشه با تمام انرژی و خلاقیت‌مون، تموم کرده بودیم. تازه دستم به این پرکتیکا رسیده بود و حسابی هیجان داشتم ببینم نتیجه‌ش چی میشه. با همون حال خسته ولی پرشور زدیم به خیابون‌ها و تا غروب چندتایی عکس گرفتیم.
یه رول کداک اولترامکس ۴۰۰ انداختیم توی دوربین و شروع کردیم به فکر کردن که از چی عکس بگیریم و از چی نگیریم! خیلی راحت میشه توی همون چند دقیقه‌ی اول کل رول رو، که معمولاً ۳۵-۳۶ تا عکسه، تموم کرد. ولی آدم باید خودشو کنترل کنه!
دوربین حسابی مکانیکیه و موقع زدن شاتر یه صدای «ترق» میده که کل عالم می‌فهمن یکی یه جا یه عکس گرفت :)
از یه گل زرد عکس گرفتم که برای کادربندی و فوکوسش چند دقیقه‌ای وقت گذاشتم، چون هنوز اون‌جوری که باید به فوکوس دستی عادت نکرده‌م. اوایل بهار ۲۰۲۶ بود، آوریل یا مه، دقیق یادم نیست، و یه کلاه سرم بود که توی عکس‌ها هم می‌بینیدش. خلاصه، کلاه رو برداشتم و همین‌جوری گذاشتمش روی زمین، و وسط این همه درگیری کلاً یادم رفت برش دارم. بعد از گرفتن عکس هم کامل فراموشش کردم. یکی دو کیلومتر از اونجا دور شده بودیم که یهو یادم افتاد کلاه نیست! دوون‌دوون برگشتیم و دیدیم کلاه همون‌جا که ولش کرده بودم منتظرمه.
همه‌ی عکس‌ها شارپنس محشری دارن و لنز کارل زایس فوق‌العاده تیز و عالی بود. توی گرگ‌ومیش غروب هم یه تست با سرعت شاتر آهسته گرفتم که نتیجه‌ش خیلی خوب دراومد.
